Within the role of Alexandria University in building strategic partnership with African universities, a delegation from AU is visiting Gamal Abdel-Naser University in Guinea Conakry. The delegation is headed by Dr. Hesham Gaber, AU vice-president for Education and Students Affairs. The delegation included Dr. Ibrahim Rehab the university Advisor for African affairs, Dr. Ahmed Othman the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Dr. Abdel Aziz Qonswa the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering.

The delegation was received by the Rector and deans of the Guinean universities in addition to the Guinean ambassador in Cairo.

The meeting discussed the available opportunities of cooperation between the two sides and the activation of the signed agreement in education and scientific research. The two sides agreed to give the priority to the fields of energy, water, health and environmental issues.

It is worth to mention that AU has two branches in South Sudan and Chad and has strong cooperation with many African countries like Kenya, Ethiopia, Tanzania and others. The university also provides 35 grants in graduate studies every year for students from Nile basin countries
