The department is involved in multiple researches involving oncological surgery; recently there were special interests in minimally invasive surgery, with increasing share of laparoscopic surgery. In order to develop these activities some assistant lecturer were sent to specialized center in Europe and USA to get the appropriate training. In the last few years there was a special interest in liver surgery which considered as a national problems, multiple thesis were given to the candidates in this issue to serves as a base line for development of this surgery in the future.
Also there is a complete endoscopy unit where upper and lower GIT endoscopy can be done, also ERCP for biliary problems and motility study unit.
