The main areas of interest include the study of histochemistry and cell biology of tumors either induced by different carcinogens in special strains of animals and human tumors under different modalities of treatment. The approach of conducting these research activities is through different procedures including histo-cytochemical, immuno histochemical and electron microscopic techniques. Recently the introduction of the immunohistochemical study of tumor markers either in experimentally induced tumors and human tumors is going in its way.
The main lines of Research in the Department of Histochemistry and cell Biology include the following :
1- Application of different techniques in the field of cell biology including Histochemistry , Immunohistechemical and Ultra structural in the following topics .
- Community related diseases as Bilharziasis , Fasciolasis and Hepatitis .
- Study of Human Tumors with emphasis on most Common Prevailing as Hepatocellular Carcinoma, Breast and Renal Tumors .
2- Future Research in the field of Stem Cell and Molecular cell Biology in collaboration with allied Departments .
Vision
The Department seeks to achieve a leading role in preparing well educated research graduates able to meet the big challenge in this field. Students enrolled in the Histochemistry participate in a practicum designed to expose them to the everyday workflow of a histochemistry laboratory and teach them the knowledge and skills necessary to work as a fully competent Histochemist.
Mission
The Department aims to raise the standard of M.Sc., Ph.D. and postdoctoral candidates up to the international level. In addition, to provide services that contribute significantly in the development and progress that fulfills the society needs.
