It is the only surgical unit in Medical Research Institute hospital (238 beds). It is a general, oncology and GIT surgical unit. The stuff members are responsible for teaching the Experimental courses for the post graduate students, master and PhD degrees in experimental surgery. Also they are responsible for management of surgical wards in free and private sections.

The Department of Experimental and Clinical Internal Medicine consists of three integrated specialized units: Hepatology and Gastroenterology Unit, Nephrology Unit, and the Cardiology Unit. In addition, it offers inpatient general Internal Medicine wards, for free, economic or paid health care services. The department provides high-quality healthcare to patients of the Medical Research Institute and an excellent environment for educating and training students and physicians registered within the department.

This department is one of the eminent departments in the Medical Research Institute that has many activities and provide medical services for many departments. It also serves for out patients clinics and in-patients wards. The staff members of this department are eight highly qualified university professors, three assistant professors, five lecturers, nine assistant lecturers, six residences and a team of well trained technicians.
